A blended approach
Whilst certain types of problem are common, like anxiety, each person’s own experience of their problem and the way they will overcome it, are unique to them.

This flexible, person-centered approach integrates a range of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to:
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Hypnotherapy and Ideomotor processing
Somatic Experiencing & Bodywork
Thought Field Therapy
Time Line Therapy®
Gestalt Therapy
Psycho-sensory e.g. Tapping
“In the beginning, you were OK”
Our approach to helping people is built around one simple but important truth, that in the beginning, they we’re OK.
Its also true to say that most people who reach out for help haven’t felt ‘OK’ for a long time (or even ever), it helps to know that behind all that they have learned, the emotions they carry, the maladapted behaviours, habits, addictions, neuroses - is the essence of who they are, what we might call their true Self.
The (Re) Approach is designed to connect people with their original Self, primarily by helping them shed whatever problematic trances are holding them back. So that they too can feel OK again*.
Whilst every client’s therapy journey is unique, most treatment plans include the following phases. These phases are flexible, and we move between them as needed to support your progress.
Please book a consultation to discuss your specific needs further.
*The prefix "re-" is a Latin root word that means "back" or "again".
The (Re) Approach
-
In this phase, we focus on understanding the problem, its context, and its impact on your life.
Together, we’ll explore the processes surrounding the issue and discuss your desired outcomes—envisioning how your life could improve without the problem.
This process of increasing awareness extends beyond the therapy session and provides useful context and cues for working in-session.
-
Here, we build on insights about the mind and body to approach the problem from new perspectives.
We honour the adaptability of the mind-body connection and its natural ability to heal and reset under the right conditions.
-
This phase involves creating a therapeutic environment and using specific techniques to regulate your autonomic nervous system.
By fostering a sense of safety and stability, we establish the foundation for meaningful change.
-
We work to address underlying issues or unresolved experiences that may be causing stress or disrupting the nervous system.
This step helps restore balance and allows the system to function more naturally.
-
Once we’ve resolved the core issues, we focus on introducing new, positive expectations that are free from the limitations of the original problem.
Through testing and reinforcement, we ensure these changes are durable and lasting.
-
As therapy progresses—and even after it concludes—your brain begins to create new narratives and meanings from a place of greater awareness and acceptance.
This is also a process of reintegration, where the insights and changes from therapy are woven into your daily life, helping you build a sense of coherence and wholeness.
By connecting these new stories to your lived experiences, you can approach life with greater clarity, resilience, and empowerment.

Tom Carter
Private Therapist & Coach
Hi, I’m Tom. My passion lies in helping people feel better—emotionally, mentally, and physically. This passion comes from personal experience: witnessing loved ones struggle with mental health challenges and navigating my own journey through anxiety, depression and addiction.
At times, it felt impossible to find a way forward, and it wasn’t until my 30s that I realised how unconsciously I had been living my life. Thankfully, I found a path to healing. Now, as a therapist, I guide others on their journeys, helping them restore balance and connection between mind and body, conscious and unconscious.
It’s a profound privilege to walk alongside people as they heal, reintegrate, and transform—often in the face of incredible adversity. Every day, I’m inspired by the human capacity for change and resilience.
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate"
